Strategic Plan
Strategic Priorities, 2023–2027
1. Academic excellence for all students Proficiency in core subjects opens doors after graduation. We are improving achievement in English language arts, mathematics, and science through district-wide data review cycles, stronger differentiated instruction, and expert use of high-quality curriculum materials in every classroom.
Our goal: 45% of students meeting or exceeding expectations in ELA and 37% in math by the end of 2025–26, and 41% in science by the end of 2026–27.
2. Social-emotional learning that supports academic learning Research is clear that students need social-emotional skills — managing emotions, building positive relationships, making responsible decisions — to access academic learning. These skills must be taught explicitly and supported alongside academics. We are also expanding student leadership, so students help lead this work in their own classrooms and activities.
Our goal: Raise student SurveyWorks ratings in the social-emotional learning domain to 80% by the end of 2026–27, and reduce chronic absenteeism to 13% by the end of 2025–26.
3. Educators focused on continuous improvement Our educators are our greatest asset. We are aligning professional development to our strategic priorities, strengthening professional learning communities in every building, and building shared leadership that fosters ownership, engagement, and innovation across the district.
Our goal: Raise educator SurveyWorks ratings on cultural awareness and action to 51%, and on the frequency of professional learning activities to 48%, by the end of 2025–26.
4. Family and community engagement Families are equal partners in their children's education, and they bring deep knowledge that supports their children's success. We are strengthening two-way communication with families and building lasting partnerships with community organizations.
Our goal: Raise family SurveyWorks ratings on family engagement to 28% by the end of 2025–26.
