Multilingual Learners (MLL)
The Multilingual Learners Department ensures that students whose first language is not English receive the language instruction and support they need to reach English proficiency and succeed academically. The department oversees home language identification and screening, annual English language proficiency assessment, program placement and service delivery across all grade levels, and monitoring of former MLL students. It supports classroom and MLL teachers with curriculum, materials, and professional learning in language acquisition and sheltered instruction, coordinates interpretation and translation services so families can participate fully in their children's education, and ensures compliance with state and federal requirements governing English learner programs.
