Our Mission

Our Mission

The Mission of the East Providence School District is to develop capable leaders who have the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be critical thinkers and engaged, productive members in society. We prepare all learners for post-secondary success in the pathways they choose.

What We Believe

Four values shape every decision we make. Equity Equity is giving every child what they need to succeed, when they need it. By strengthening our multi-tiered systems of support, we work to close gaps in academic outcomes for every group of students we serve — including differently abled students and multilingual learners. A Warm and Welcoming Climate Relationships are at the heart of our work. When students feel safe, included, and free to be their authentic selves, they learn more. Building that climate in every school is not separate from academic achievement — it is a condition for it. Academic Achievement We hold high expectations for each and every student. We believe every student is capable of reaching proficiency and beyond, supported by quality instruction, high-quality curriculum materials, and a robust system of academic support. A Whole Child Approach Students need social-emotional skills to access academic learning. We create opportunities where both develop together, rather than treating them as separate tracks.

Our Approach

We start from an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels. To act on that belief, we integrate social-emotional learning with academic learning, invest in ongoing high-quality professional development for our educators, strengthen our multi-tiered systems of support, and engage families as equal partners in their children's education. Together, these commitments allow us to give each student the opportunities and supports they need to reach their full potential — and to build a culture of continuous improvement and shared leadership at every level of the district.
