About the Project

The State of Rhode Island has initiated a second round of the School Construction Program to continue the transformation and replacement of inadequate public school buildings throughout the state. The first round supported projects like the new East Providence High School.

In the Fall of 2021, the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) encouraged the community to evaluate improvements to Martin Middle School based on significant need impending reductions in reimbursement and incentives. This initiated a broader look at the entire District with a focus on Waddington Elementary School and other facilities. Subject to approval, RIDE will reimburse a proportion of the total cost to help finance a project.
