Silver Spring School

A Message from Our School Nurse:

Hello Silver Spring Families!!!

I hope you are all safe and well! I miss seeing everyone!

As you know, the best way for us to fight this virus is by washing our hands, staying home when ill, and practicing social distancing.

We also need to consider our emotions, as well as how children may feel during this uncertain time.

They may not truly understand the scope of the virus, and may not necessarily need to.

I have attached a few videos that may be helpful to ease their concerns. The first video, can be understood by all of our students (K-5). The second video is more informative (3-5). Please preview the videos to determine if one or both may be helpful for your child(ren).

If you have any questions or need to reach me for any reason, my email is:

I will be in virtual touch again soon...take care and stay safe!

Dear Silver Spring Families,

As in other schools throughout the country, Silver Spring Elementary School students will be engaging in distance learning beginning Monday, March 23rd until at least April 3rd. This will be a new experience for all of us and for some of our students this will be the first time that they are accessing lessons on Google Classroom.

We ask our families to be patient, as we will all do our best to ensure that our students have lessons that are aligned with our curriculum and Standards, and are supported.

We understand that the first week may be a bit stressful, as students and parents/guardians learn how to use the technology and resources. Know that our teachers, support professionals, and staff will be available for assistance, so don't despair.

This is uncharted territory for all of us, and we want you to know that we are all in this together.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time of uncertainty....and thank you to our district leaders, teachers and staff who have been working hard all week to prepare for the first week of distance learning.

Please take care of yourselves and be safe. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

Monday (3/23) in Rhode Island starts a new chapter in public education. There is a huge learning curve that students and teachers will be navigating together!!
As we move closer to embarking on this thing called “distance learning,” I am asking my Facebook friends to refrain from publicly scrutinizing their children’s teachers/schools for the way they are teaching, or the lessons they are assigning. They are about to navigate uncharted waters with less preparation time than they would have liked. They are figuring this out as they go. Please be patient with them. This is a national crisis, and many of them have their own children at home to care for and teach as well.
Rest assured though, they are doing their best because, like you, they do want the best for your children.
