Here are this week's Core Value winners!

For the Core Value of Responsibility, we would like to recognize 8th grader, Amari. Upon leaving the cafeteria, Amari helped de-escalate a heated hallway disagreement between other students. He took one of the students and removed him from the situation, thus helping to end the argument. Amari was responsible, mature and demonstrated positive problem solving skills with his peers!

Next, Ms. Kenahan would like to recognize Mattison for the Core Value of Mindfulness. Ms. Kenahan’s classes continue to “lose” pencils despite having a pencil box and pencil manager in each class. All by herself, Mattisen took the initiative to buy pencils with her own money and label them for Ms. Kenahan to help alleviate more pencils from disappearing again. Thanks, Mattisen, for being mindful and generous with both of your time and money!

Being nominated for Scholarship this week is 6th grader, Aliyah. Mrs. Fillion reports that Aliyah asked for an application for the Governor For a Day essay contest. After she got the application, she read it thoughtfully and asked specific questions on how to proceed. When she later finished her work in class, Aliyah asked permission if she could work on her essay. Aliyah’s enthusiasm inspired other students in her class to ask for an application, as well. Good luck on your essay, Aliyah!

Finally, our lucky staff member of the week is 7th grade social studies teacher, Mr. Sulham. Mr. Sulham nominated several students this week, including Serenity Sampson, who was mindful enough to save Mr. Sulham’s laptop and podium. When Serenity recognized that two students who were fooling around were about to knock over the podium and laptop, she stepped in and caught them. Serenity had the awareness to help prevent a potentially costly situation rather than avoid it and do nothing!

Congratulations to all of our nominees this week!
