Dear Wildcat Family!

Do you know how much fun the Martin Middle School Staff had yesterday?

We spent some time during this beautiful day dropping lawn signs off for our 8th grade students. We had over 30 staff members from MMS driving all over the city yesterday spreading some WILDCAT PRIDE to our beloved students and families. It is obvious how much we miss OUR KIDS. The 8th grade has spent 3 years with us and this is not the way any of us want the year to end, but we want to finish the year strong and honor them the best and safest way possible.

That being said please send any pictures to Mr. Black with you and your lawn sign, we would love to see you. If an 8th grader did not get a sign for some reason, then we are sorry and we want you to email Mr. Black wblack@epschoolsri.com so we can get you one as soon as possible. The signs are for you to keep and show your school pride. This is a year none of us will ever forget and the sign is another way to remember these moments.

Wildcat Pride Winners!!!

Congratulations to the Wildcat Pride winners. The following students and educators are awarded this week’s Wildcat Pride medal for demonstrating: RESPECT, ORGANIZATION, ACHIEVEMENT, RESPONSIBILITY, and SAFETY.

You will receive your medal in the next couple of days at your home. We hope you wear it proudly!

Dear MMS Family,

I hoped you enjoyed this beautiful weekend!

We have four weeks to go and we will finish strong. Our “Out of House” teachers have a page to help organize the assignments similar to the “In House Teachers” (Science, Math, Social Studies, and English). Here is the link: docs.google.com/document/d/1wIGH2xYa1gFgPg0Glu68_A7RXbqYWkGdKwWDHd5PTyE/edit?usp=sharing

This link will be attached to the Grade Level Assignment Page. Here is a tutorial from Mr. Black: youtu.be/eIj4Vuot-Dg on what the page looks like and where to find it. We hope this helps organize the work for families to follow up. Please reach out with any questions.

Upcoming Events

We are planning events for our students to finish the year strong! Our kids have been working hard this year, and our staff has been working hard to organize some fun events to close out the year. As in all events, please make sure to follow all of the safety protocols set by the Governor. Social distancing and mask wearing is a must to keep everyone as safe as possible. Check out the grade level below and look for more details over the next couple of days that we will send out.

We drove by some sixth grade homes last Thursday 5/14 and we will drive by the other group in East Providence on 5/22. We look forward to “seeing” you! 6th Grade Awards day will be recorded and shared out during awards week which is the week of 5/26. Also, we will be arranging a time in June for 6th graders to pick up their items left at MMS

Grade 8 - we are going to miss you!!! Shhhh - we have a special surprise for our students on May 20th!!! On May 28th, we will have our Honors Night at 6pm. This will be a Livestream event and invitations will go out through email and phone calls next week from Guidance. Honors Night is a night to recognize 8th graders for extraordinary academic performance as well as excellence in specific courses. Mr. Anastasi, Mr. Messier and Mr. Black along with our 8th grade teachers are looking forward to it. June 4th at 6pm will be a Livestream event for our first ever National Junior Honor Society group of 17, 8th graders. Athletics

Our coaches along with Ms. Millea is planning a send off slideshow to honor the athletes who competed at MMS during the Fall and Winter seasons as well as the season that never happened in the Spring. We will be sharing this during the final week of school.

CHOICE WEEK

This week - May 18th - May 22nd will be Choice Week at MMS. Our teachers in our out of house classes got together to come up with a focus for each day. We have a focus each day, however, we would like students to choose as they wish, when they wish. We want students to have fun with these activities as they involve a lot of skills that they have not had a chance to work on as much during Distance Learning. Thank you to our Art, Music, Technology, Library, Language, Engineering, and Computer Science teachers who have come up with the learning opportunities next week. Check out the schedules below:
